Doctor Hassan and his wife Tamila live in one of the villages. Their life flows quietly and outwardly peacefully, and no one even suspects that Hassan has long been whetted by a worm of wounded pride — he is offended that his wife's relatives consider him a loser. Hassan dreams of proving the opposite to them. His dreams are supported by a local French teacher who managed to move to Tashkent and find a prestigious job there at Intourist, One day one of Hassan's patients suggests that he start breeding rabbits.
